CoreValve is made from self expanding metal (Nitinol) frame containing tri-leaflet porcine pericardial tissue prosthesis, is specifically designed for retrograde percutaneous implantation via a specialized catheter.

 

 

The delivery catheter is advanced over the guide-wire, retrograde, (from the femoral artery up to the aortic valve), and is positioned in the aortic valve annulus. The external sheath is then progressively retracted deploying the the CoreValve Prosthesis. The delivery catheter is then closed and retrieved.
