Advancements in medicine are extending our lifespan, enabling us to live longer than ever before.

At Mercy Angiography, Percutaneous Aortic Valve Replacement (PAVR) is the latest in series of life extending advancements. Mercy Angiography was the first centre in New Zealand to be certified to conduct PAVR procedures.

PAVR is an exciting new procedure that in selected high risk cases can be performed instead of traditional valve replacement surgery. During PAVR, the diseased valve is pushed aside with a balloon, and the new valve (CoreValve) is advanced into position from a small hole made in the groin.
